Formulas are indispensable in today’s world. Hard work is no doubt essential to succeed in life. Nonetheless, hard work coupled with prudence ensures quick success. Prudent labour is required in order to succeed in life. A keen observation of those who progress in life would reveal to us that only prudent thinkers prosper fast.
A journey to our school days before a quarter century is ever green and tastes sweet. Yet I wonder if the modern youth share my feelings. No wonder they are forced to read a great deal of subjects and competitive examinations. Even if they complete their college education, they must hunt for job. It was in this scenario that I had the urge to pen a book about self-confidence. Besides, I felt that it would be appropriate to share my life experiences with readers than the writing life experiences of others.
I executed my idea and wrote my story first in my mother tongue Tamil. Surprisingly, my book earned a great deal of appreciation not only from students but also from their parents and teachers. Apparently I was cheered by the exuberant appreciation. When I shared my joy among my buddies who didn’t know Tamil, they felt sorry for their inability to read my writing. Therefore, I’m immensely happy to present the English translation of my book. This book contains 20 formulae which I discovered and applied to succeed in my life.
I believe that those who have succeeded in their life would have followed most of the principles mentioned in this book. We would have heard and noticed fragmentary information about their successful journey. I hope this book will be of use for adolescents who are in the threshold of life.

“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.”
– Albert Einstein.
Einstein’s aforesaid statement is the guiding force to move on towards a better tomorrow. Indeed, a ‘Goal’ is an objective or target someone is trying to reach or achieve. It provides a roadmap to an individual to accomplish the target in life. Goal setting is absolutely a personal business and therefore it varies from individual to individual. Setting a goal is futile unless the setter does not put his/her endeavor to achieve it.
However, this book “Your Goal Is within Your Reach” which is a collaborative enterprise of P. Sasikumar and R. Sheela Banu bears insightful and pragmatic pieces of writing for youngsters. The book has twenty chapters with picturesque descriptions of real life situations and experiences. The essays are packed with values and wisdom. By reading this book, the young generation of our time will certainly find a direction to shape their lives in a well-defined way.
This book offers the best guideline to the young and old of our generation. The essentiality of cultivating the art of elegance, punctuality, and steadiness are the focal aspects delineated in some of the chapters in a lucid manner with clarity and precision. Some topics are also scientific and experimental in nature. The essence of the whole book reminds me of Bacon’s everlasting lines –
“Read not to contradict and confute…. but to weigh and consider.”
I hope, the book will certainly make the readers judicious and successful in life. Indeed, the book sermonizes the ethics, pronounces verdict and prompts the readers to follow the dos and don’ts to make life sublime. The volume will undoubtedly get the readers’ approbation and will remain as an invaluable asset for youngsters. I am optimistic about the future of the book and wish the authors a great success in their creative journey ahead.

Basically, Dr. P. Sasikumar is a scientist. I read his Tamil book entitled Vinveli Manitharkal while I got acquainted with him as a scientist. Again and again, I read his book not forgetting the fact that it is written by a scientist. However, in my observation, he possesses a seasoned writer’s style; his eloquent diction reminds me of a fine storyteller; also, his cadence illustrates his adroitness in handling language. Besides, he shares several latest scientific information in a shockingly simple language.
It’s not in the least a difficult task for professional writers. But for a scientist, it should have been an uphill task. Undeniably, he shows a natural flair for writing. As an ardent fan of his writings, I was given this precious opportunity to pen the Preface for this book.
A great many pedagogues and philosophers have been offering their interpretations, definitions and perspectives in the classroom activities; yet, there does exist a vacuum. The vacuum is inevitable because education involves continuous progress. True education gives no room for neither stagnation nor completion. Although the basic principle of learning is the same, its elements transform from time to time. Further, meaningful education should create a positive transformation in the learners. Unseen problems and challenges are bound to arise in the educational journey. We humans should use our insight to detect such unforeseen obstacles and tactfully outsmart them. Novel ways and means are indispensable to approach such troubles.
A teacher can handle such issues with ease. But what about a scientist? Sasikumar displays an astonishing ability of tackling the challenges faced by students. This book testifies to his skill. In fact, he had developed this ability during his interactions with countless students.
The list of chapters in the Contents section of the book reveals the truth that like a veteran teacher he has understood the innumerable psychological problems experienced by the student community.
I’ve never believed in the preciosity of time. But I changed my mind after reading Sasikumar’s book.
Only those who realize the huge loss that would follow owing to their delay adhere to time. For instance, the man who buys an air ticket for Rs.10,000/- will warily tell to himself that he cannot enter the airport even if he is late by one minute. Therefore, he reaches the airport well before the flight time. But the same person fails to be punctual in other places.
Today many believe that money is the be all and end all. But Sasikumar postulates the falsity of this belief with several illustrations to students. One cannot conceal one’s flaws for long. If one detects one’s flaws, then one must try to correct them and never conceal them. Students should be good both in the presence and absence of the teacher. The chapter in which he has explained that one should attune to one’s environment citing the life of a sculptor deserves special appreciation. The way in which the writer has tabulated and explained the key points of the text in simple triangular shape is quite appealing to young readers. Next, the way the writer has linked mathematical problems and equations with human life is a major strength of this book.
Just as students feel intimate with a teacher who puts his arms around their shoulders, every student who reads this book shall be drawn to it owing to its chatty, colloquial and friendly style.
This book does not stop with enthusing the students and showing them the path of success. It should be read by parents and teachers as well. Reading this book shall enable elders to identify the conflicts and challenges faced by students and help them to progress in life. In a nutshell, this book is a worthy contribution to the entire human world. I express my hearty congratulations to scientist-writer Sasikumar for his commitment to this society.
